Neat Tips & Tricks for Staying Your Best (even on an off day)

It’s not every day that you’ll wake up feeling super great and ready to take on the world, although we would love to, the reality of the situation is we don’t. Sometimes life happens and causes us hurt and stresses that make our day 10 times harder than it should. Luckily for us there are a few tips and tricks to help us not look how we feel on those days. Sometimes the tiniest things make the biggest difference, so here are a few little things that are guaranteed to help you stay on top of your game *wink*. Eyebrows: - Groomed eyebrows balance your features and frame your face. Eyebrows in my opinion makes a vast difference in the way a person looks. Even if you don’t wear make-up or on a particular day you choose not to, having groomed eyebrows will be an advantage to you. Skin: - Healthy skin makes a huge difference in your appearance and all it takes is eight glasses of water a day. Less soft drinks – more water! Hair: - We’re only human, so we’re undoubtedly goin

Celebrity Corner - Malaika Ballantyne

This weeks’ corner feature’s the ever beautiful and talented MALAIKA BALLANTYNE. I was blessed with the opportunity to sit with this enthusiastic young lady a couple of weeks ago for an interview for ‘Let’s Talk Glam Today’. Malaika is a vivacious 27 year old young woman who is currently front-line with the band IMIJ & CO. It all started for her at the tender age of nine, she found her true love, it was performing arts, and music. She's since then made it her business to be involved in every school event that ranged from drama, singing, dancing and pageantry and modeling. As she grew older, she ventured out into more National Competitions. Some of the (Calypso) competitions she’s competed in are: 1.        Young King Calypso competition 2.        Prime Minister’s Best Village competition ‘Choir folk song category” – 2 nd place 3.        Miss La Reine Rive 2012 – 1 st place 4.        National Queens Calypso competition  2013 – 4 th place 5.        Stars of

DIY After Carnival At Home Facial

After a long and hectic season with all that make-up, sun and dust, my face was screaming tiredness and it was also very dirty. I usually do facials at home for myself, close friends and family using mostly natural products i.e. things that can be mostly found in the kitchen and garden. I prefer not to use too much chemicals on my face because in my opinion it's harsh on my skin and speeds up aging. The less chemical products I can use on my face the better. Doing my facials at home saves me time and money and it works. To revive my face after all that 'abuse' I did a “Green Tea Steam Facial”. For a complete facial I usually do a cleanse, scrub and a mask.  For this particular facial you will need:  A facial cleanser (of your choice), a facial scrub (of your choice), a clean white towel, a clean bowl, a green tea bag, powdered saffron and milk (liquid).  Products I used for my DIY facial        Wash your face thoroughly with facial cleanser, pat try wit

Carnival 2014 Wrap Up

So this year my girlfriends and I made a conscious decision to not partake in playing mas this year (I know what you’re thinking) it was a long and hard decision to make but eventually we decided not to. So we sat and carefully planned out our season with details of what fetes we wanted to attend and we coordinated our finances accordingly. For the season we've been to 10 fetes, 4 parties, pan semis and jouvert and can I just say it’s been more than a wonderful experience. Had I been preparing to be on the road this year, I would not have experienced the season itself in its entirety, I probably may have attended a couple fetes and just sit and anticipate Carnival Monday & Tuesday as we usually do year in and year out. Below are a couple more looks that happened during the festivities. In order of events:  Over sized crop top came with my package, so I just threw on a matching tank top under it and tied it to the back for a better fit, with a shorts that I cut and shr
