Some things to take into consideration when starting your personal makeup kit!

In my opinion the easiest way to start a makeup kit is to actually want to do it and not just do it because everyone else is doing it, since it takes a lot of time and effort. It’s also important to remember no one was born knowing how to apply makeup, it’s a process so be patient with yourself. There are those women who prefer to not wear makeup and that’s quite fine but for the ladies who are into makeup and have been thinking about how to go about starting a kit please keep reading. The first thing that should be taken into consideration for this type of project is research. It is better to walk into a beauty supply store having an idea of what you want or need than being completely clueless because from my experience not all beauty CSR’s are appropriately trained. Youtube has been a great source of help for me. I will post the links below to some of the channels that has been instrumental in helping me with makeup.

Makeup Haul!!!

Sorry that I haven’t been posting very much lately, life has been happening lol. I promise to pick up the slack though and post at least three times per week , I haven’t decided which days just yet but as soon as I figure it all out I’d let y’all know. As y’all may or may not have known I’m in the process of building my makeup kit so I'm always looking for products to add to it. I picked up some things in the last couple weeks and just thought I’d share. I've linked where I got the products below and if you guys have any questions feel free to comment below as well. For my face I picked up: ·         E.l.f  mineral face primer ·         Sacha Matte Face Powder in Perfectly Translucent - been meaning to try a translucent powder for the longest, my best friend recommended this one (Oh hey Jisanne) Lol ·          Sacha Blush in Shame Cinnamon – this is really pigmented so a little goes a long way.

The Power of ‘Nude’

When I think of the word nude different shades of ‘beiges’, ‘tans’ and ‘pale peaches’ come to mind.   In fashion, the word is most often used to describe a shade that is a little darker than champagne, lighter than sand and perhaps with a hint of blush or peach.  Fashion also states that ‘nude’ is no one colour stating that the word derived in relation to skin tones and there is no one skin tone. “There's more than one shade of skin and, in its current incarnation, nude runs from those palest pinks through to deep sunburnt apricots and peaches, passing through a range of beiges and caramel.” I am obsessed with nude hues. I believe although it’s neutral it still has the ability to add definition to an outfit. I also believe in having something nude, if at least one piece in every section of your closet. A pair of nude pumps and/or wedges, nude flats, a nude lipstick, a nude clutch/and or hand bag, nude nail polish and of course nude clothing (which is any colour from pa

NEW PRODUCT ALERT!! Cool Sacha Products!

Buttercup Setting Powder (Ben Nye Banana Powder Dupe) For some strange reason, I always thought that the more expensive a product the better it works. I’ve come to learn that this isn’t always the case and I’m ever so grateful for that lesson. I passed through Sacha’s Image Centre Price Plaza the other day to get the ‘Butter Cup Setting Powder’ after hearing great reviews about it. It’s a setting powder and is being compared to the Ben Nye Banana Powder. I’m always looking for a good dupe and this baby right here works just as good as or even better than the Ben Nye. It can be used all over the face but I just use it under my eyes for highlighting purposes. It’s really fine milled and it’s almost as if it melts into your foundation and it photographs nicely. Sacha has definitely out done themselves with this one. It cost me just $60TT which is a lot less than the Ben Nye Banana Powder and you can get it at any Sacha Store Nationwide. It is an amazing product; trust me!

Jordanna Lipstick Mini Haul

From left Mauve, Hot Pink, Plum Obsession & Radiant Red Finally getting around to doing this! It’s no secret that I am a lipstick fanatic so of course I went to the mall and ended up getting some pretty Jordanna lip colours and I just thought I’d share.  What I like about these lipsticks the most are not only are they affordable but they’re durable too. Jordanna comes in handy for everyday use like work etc; I also use them for evening and night glam depending on what lipstick I need.  Once they’re set properly (lip liner etc) they look gorgeous and they last a good couple of hours. I picked up three regular colours (in the silver packaging) and one matte colour (in the gold packaging). I’m not a big fan of matte lipsticks because sometimes they can be extra drying on your lips and crack but I tried this one and it’s not overly drying. It’s matte but with some moisture which I love.

Blush Basics 101

Swatches of a few of the blushes that I use (all powders) Notice the colours don't really stand out, they more blend in. I have a warm undertone, so the colours that works the  most magic on me are yellow based pinks, corals and peaches.  What does blush actually do? It gives you the ‘perfect glow’. "When your cheeks have healthy color, your complexion looks more radiant."  Below are a couple of things to take into consideration when choosing, purchasing and applying blush. 1. Getting the correct shade Which shade will work magic on you? Getting the correct shade and colour blush for your complexion is the most important step. For olive skin, this usually has a warm undertone, think warm — peach and copper. If you're fair with a cool undertone, your best bets are natural pinks ranging from pale to a rosy hue. Tip: Shimmer free colours look more natural.
