Taking Care of my Virgin Brazilian Extensions

So I got extensions *big smile*. I absolutely love my natural hair but like everything else I needed a change and my hair needed rest.  I haven’t had extensions in a little over a year so it took a little getting used to; I was a bit late with the recent virgin hair craze that recently took over Trinidad obviously, however I checked around and decided to get 14” to 16” Virgin Brazilian Body Wave in Natural Black. I've had it in close to four weeks now. At first I wasn't sure how to take care of it etc but I did some research and I played around with it and I think I have a pretty good handle on it now. Washing – So far I've co-washed it three times using Motions Moisture Plus conditioner.  I try to wash it on weekends, early in the day so I can let it air dry. Co-washing means washing the hair with conditioner only. Heat – I try not to blow dry, curl iron or flat iron the hair. I stay away from electronic heat as much as possible. Setting – For settin

Simple Glam (Night out with the girls)

Hey everyone, club season is back and in full swing in Trinidad and as opposed to carnival the fashion for ‘clubbing season’ as it’s fondly called is two very different things. Let me explain, carnival has a more casual fashion outlook mainly because most of the events are outdoor, the capacity of patrons at one event also the nature of a fete (live performances etc). Club fashion has more of a glamorous outlook because of its indoor nature consisting of ‘little black dresses’, skirts, blazers etc. My first after carnival outfit was this black and white, close-fitting, above mid-knee length, armhole, cotton dress. I immediately fell in love with it because I can dress it up or down. I like unique pieces but I absolutely love clothes that I can dress up or down. I paired it with black pumps (sorry I didn’t get a shot of them). I wore a pair of mid-size silver hoops, a silver ring, white & silver MK watch and a black clutch with silver lining. When going for a glam look al

Correct Way to Exfoliate Your Skin: Step-by-Step

As we age, the process of cell regeneration slows down. This means that the body is slower to shed skin cells and generate new ones. When old skin cells start to pile up on the surface of the skin, it can leave skin looking dull, rough, and dry. Furthermore, the build-up of dead skin cells can result in excess oil and clogged pores, leading to blemishes and acne. Proper exfoliation removes the barrier of dead skin cells clogging the skin and uncovers fresh new cells below. This opens the way for moisturizing products to penetrate more deeply into the skin, which makes them more effective. In short, a regular exfoliating routine will leave your skin looking fresh and healthy. Remove make-up - If you wear makeup, remove makeup first, there are a lot of make-up removers currently on the market both liquid and wipes. However for a cheaper, more natural alternative coconut oil or olive oil can be used for both face and eye make-up and baby wipes can be used for those with sensitive

Colour Analysis: Choosing the right make-up for you

There are a lot of factors to consider when choosing your make-up but the most important factor in my opinion is being able to choose the right colour and shade. If your base make-up such as your foundation isn’t the correct shade for your skin, it can throw off your entire look. When considering shades for yourself, knowing your undertone is crucial because as I said in my previous article “your undertone is what determines what colours and shades look best on you.” Warm toned women are women with yellow, golden or peach undertones. You look best in gold jewelry. Gold, Copper, Bronze, Earth Tones and Orange-reds are your complimentary colours. In this case your foundation should be Yellow or Peach based; therefore look for shades with a ‘W’ in the name (E.G. Buff 6W). Warm shades lipstick, blush and/or bronzer to look for are peaches, peachy pinks, oranges, corals and orange-y reds. Cool toned women are women with pink, red or blue undertones. You look best in silver jewel

The Secret to How to Wear Colour – Choosing the right colours for yourself

Identify your undertone - There are many different shades of skin, but there are only two undertones. The simplest way to identify your undertone is to turn your hand over, palm up, taking a look at the underside of your wrist. What color are the veins? If they look blue or purple, you're cool toned. If they look green or have a yellow cast, you're warm toned. So basically your undertone is what determines what colours look best on you. A cool toned person looks best in what we call "cool" colors like white, black, royal blue, gray, navy, etc. Think of colors that remind you of water, sea, and sky. When in doubt, you can't go wrong with one of these. When it comes to metallics, silver is your go-to. Whilst a warm tone person look beautiful in "earthy" shades like burnt orange, cream, saturated sunny yellow, brown, dark leafy green, and that shade of red maple leaves turn when autumn comes your way. Taupe, heathered brown, and camel are also in y

My addiction (make-up haul)

Since school is out and there’s no traffic, I've had extra time to browse around beauty supply stores before and after work (don’t ask lol). So far this week I’ve been able to pick up a few things that I’ve been meaning to get for a while now. I haven’t gotten a chance to use any of these babies yet but I promise as soon as I do I will post my reviews. NYX Mosaic Powder Blush in Café – I saw this and instantly fell in love.  I love that this is mild and not too pigmented, it’s perfect for giving me that gorgeous glowing finish that I’m obsessed with. NYX HD High Definition Eye Shadow Base – I came across a review about this particular product on youtube and decided to give it a try. I haven’t gotten the Urban Decay Primer (that everyone has been raving about) as yet so I would use this in the interim. Milani Lipstick in the colour Sweet Nectar – This a bright orange lip colour that I kept putting off getting, not too sure why though because orange is one of the
