Facial care tips for men

Guys I know y’all love to front about skin care products but the fact of the matter is us females loves us some nice, smooth skin we can lay up on. *lol* Just because you're a man, doesn't mean its okay to neglect facial or skin care.

5 Steps Towards Healthy, Handsome Facial Skin:

1) Cleansing your face - It’s important to have a gentle cleanser that will cleanse the skin from the dirt and oil that can accumulate. Just because you can’t see the dirt and grime on your skin, doesn't mean that it isn't there. Regular bar soaps tend to contain detergents and deodorizers that can be very harsh and dehydrating to the skin. A good facial cleanser is what you need. Most skin care brands have a line for men these days. Some good ones to try and available locally are Nivea for men, Neutrogena for men, Cetaphil and Dove for men just to name a few.

2) Exfoliating – Exfoliating is just is fancy word for removing dead skin. You may not know this but our skin exfoliates naturally however, as we get older, the process of exfoliation starts to slow down and we need to help it along. Choose a face scrub with that contains scrubby particles to help smooth the skin. The bonus of using an exfoliant is that it will also help soften your hair follicles which can result in a closer, less irritating shave.

3) Moisturize – Moisturizing is important for keeping your skin hydrated & soft. Moisturizing daily will get you soft, kissable skin. J A moisturizer will help to replenish your skin’s moisture content that shaving tends to take away and will also help prevent razor burn.

4) Shaving techniques – Guys choose a razor that fits your skin sensitivity and beard coarseness. An electronic razor is the best option, if you prefer normal razors stay clear of the ones with several blades with these types you’re more likely to get razor burn or ingrown hairs because the extra blades pull the hairs below the skin a little too deep. Prep your hair before you shave, hair that is dry and brittle is harder to shave than hair that is wet and pliant. For this reason, it's helpful to wet shave every time you shave, and to use shaving cream to provide lubrication, which helps the razor slide over hairs easier. These lubricants are specifically designed to make shaving easier and to prevent razor burn and ingrown hairs. Rinse your skin with warm water to tighten the pores. After shaving, treat your face with a good-quality aftershave, but preferably one that doesn't have alcohol in it, as they can cause dryness, inflammation, and cellular damage. Aftershaves with witch hazel might be better suited for your skin.

5) Drink lots of water - If your skin is not getting the sufficient amount of water, the lack of hydration will present itself by turning your skin dry, tight and flaky. The fact is that skin is an organ, and just like any other part of the body. Your skin is made up of cells. And skin cells, like any other cell in the body, are made up of water. Try to drink at least 8 to 10 glasses of water each day, this will drastically improve the health of your skin.

Correct Way to Exfoliate Your Skin: Step-by-Step

As we age, the process of cell regeneration slows down. This means that the body is slower to shed skin cells and generate new ones. When old skin cells start to pile up on the surface of the skin, it can leave skin looking dull, rough, and dry. Furthermore, the build-up of dead skin cells can result in excess oil and clogged pores, leading to blemishes and acne. Proper exfoliation removes the barrier of dead skin cells clogging the skin and uncovers fresh new cells below. This opens the way for moisturizing products to penetrate more deeply into the skin, which makes them more effective. In short, a regular exfoliating routine will leave your skin looking fresh and healthy. Remove make-up - If you wear makeup, remove makeup first, there are a lot of make-up removers currently on the market both liquid and wipes. However for a cheaper, more natural alternative coconut oil or olive oil can be used for both face and eye make-up and baby wipes can be used for those with sensitive

LOTN - 'Enchanted' (Review)

Lipstick number two out of the three that I purchased from the Intense Collection by SACHA. In my last post I talked about the texture etc.. and I also mentioned why I absolutely love these lippies. So this post is just to show how the colour ‘Enchanted’ actually looks. Here it’s paired with L.A. Colours eye liner in ‘P615 Violet’

My addiction (make-up haul)

Since school is out and there’s no traffic, I've had extra time to browse around beauty supply stores before and after work (don’t ask lol). So far this week I’ve been able to pick up a few things that I’ve been meaning to get for a while now. I haven’t gotten a chance to use any of these babies yet but I promise as soon as I do I will post my reviews. NYX Mosaic Powder Blush in CafĂ© – I saw this and instantly fell in love.  I love that this is mild and not too pigmented, it’s perfect for giving me that gorgeous glowing finish that I’m obsessed with. NYX HD High Definition Eye Shadow Base – I came across a review about this particular product on youtube and decided to give it a try. I haven’t gotten the Urban Decay Primer (that everyone has been raving about) as yet so I would use this in the interim. Milani Lipstick in the colour Sweet Nectar – This a bright orange lip colour that I kept putting off getting, not too sure why though because orange is one of the
