Lipstick Love – Everything you need to know about lipstick/Milani review

Many women don’t feel confident about wearing a bright shade of lipstick on their lips. But what only makeup artists and a few women know is that lipstick can make the lips very alluring if applied correctly. I went out & got a few Milani colours after I heard everyone on you tube raving about it. I was very careful in choosing my colours and well this is what I came up with.

If you've decided you’re going to wear lipstick, there are a couple of things you should know:

Wearing your lipstick with other makeup – If you’re going to wear dark lipstick, keep your eye makeup light; if you are playing up the eyes, keep your mouth light with a gloss or light lip colour that doesn't stand out.

Choosing the right shade of lipstick for yourself – This is where knowing your undertone comes in again. Warm toned women like me stand out in yellow/orange based colours like corals, orange reds, peaches, browns, whereas cool toned women stand out in pink/blue based colours such as pinks, darker reds (plum red). Also according to makeup artist Bobbi Brown “the best lipstick shade is a shade or 2 darker than your natural lip color”.

Prep your lips – There are two ways you can do this. You can either fill in your lips with the liner before applying your lipstick make sure that the lip liner matches the shade of your lipstick, the lip liner will keep the lipstick from bleeding out of the lips or you can dab on a light coat of foundation on your lips, and then brush on a bit of face powder on top of the foundation. This will give your lipstick a polished look, it will also hold the lipstick and keep it from running off. You can also line your lips after putting foundation on it as well.

Make your lipstick last – Another way to set your lipstick for it lasts is after you have applied your lipstick, hold a tissue over your lips and lightly dust translucent powder over the tissue.

Prevent "bleeding" – Carefully apply a little concealer around the border of your mouth.

Avoid getting lipstick on your teeth  – After applying, put your finger in your mouth, purse your lips around it, then slowly pull it out to remove excess colour.

Hot Pink Rage

Black Cherry

Nude Creme

Flamingo Pose

Not Milan's Red (random red I own lol)

I absolutely love this Milani line, they're thick and creamy and if set properly they lasts a good couple of hours.

Don't be afraid to wear a bright shade of lipstick on your lips. Just apply it correctly and make sure that you balance your lipstick with your makeup and you'll be fine. Lipstick completes a look and is a fantastic way to highlight an outfit. I hope this helped, happy lipstick wearing.

Mini make-up haul

Small make-up haul  Hey everyone! I've just started gathering products for my make-up kit and I went out on Saturday and picked up these little beauties *love struck smiley*. I got a chance to use everything so far so I just want to share with y'all my views. The L'oreal true match foundation in W6... umm not my favourite, it's a bit light for me which is weird since the W6 powder matches harmoniously to my skin. I'm hoping it's the tan I got from the beach last week and being out all day Saturday, will definitely give it another chance. Other than it not matching my skin tone it's perfect, it goes on smooth (with the correct brush of course, I used the MAC 188 foundation brush), it's lightweight, gives medium to full coverage and gives a nice 'glowy' finish. I love this foundation, I usually use MAC studio fix fluid but this is a nice cheaper alternative for everyday use. Milani Illuminating face powder in Hermosa Rose.. I cannot get en...

Simple Glam (Night out with the girls)

Hey everyone, club season is back and in full swing in Trinidad and as opposed to carnival the fashion for ‘clubbing season’ as it’s fondly called is two very different things. Let me explain, carnival has a more casual fashion outlook mainly because most of the events are outdoor, the capacity of patrons at one event also the nature of a fete (live performances etc). Club fashion has more of a glamorous outlook because of its indoor nature consisting of ‘little black dresses’, skirts, blazers etc. My first after carnival outfit was this black and white, close-fitting, above mid-knee length, armhole, cotton dress. I immediately fell in love with it because I can dress it up or down. I like unique pieces but I absolutely love clothes that I can dress up or down. I paired it with black pumps (sorry I didn’t get a shot of them). I wore a pair of mid-size silver hoops, a silver ring, white & silver MK watch and a black clutch with silver lining. When going for a glam loo...
