A simple guide to becoming fashion forward

Becoming fashion forward sounds a lot harder than it actually is. It only takes making a few basic adjustments and your well on your way to looking and feeling better about yourself. Fashion is and has always been a repeat of itself; style is and has always been what you make of fashion.

ü  I’m sure you’re on social media, if you are like and/or follow a couple fashion/beauty pages to keep you abreast with what’s happening in the ever so changing fashion/beauty world. If you’re not on social media you can check out newspapers, magazines and blogs.

ü  There is a difference between being inspired and copying a look, know it. Copying someone’s look has a slim chance of working to your advantage just because of the fact that everyone is different and was made in his/her own image and liking. It’s very okay to be inspired by a look and tweak it to suit your needs.

ü  Do not wear what you are not confident or comfortable in.

ü  Dress for your body, not age. Legs toned enough for shorts? Show off what you've got—while you've still got it.

ü  Own a ‘stylist emergency kit’, this kit should include but not limited to double-stick tape for loose hems or a gaping bodice, tide To Go eraser pen for getting wine off whites, safety pins for allover damage control, bra clip to control peek-a-boo straps, lint brush or roller and makeup sponge or baby wipes for removing deodorant stains.

ü  11 wardrobe essentials that you should own. These are pieces that will be able to immediately add to any outfit.
·         Blazer– can transform a casual outfit into a dressier look in less than 5 seconds.
·         Scarf – a fun easy way to mix prints and add some colour to your outfit.
·         A little black dress– Let’s just say it’s a fashion life saver.
·         A pair of black leggings– The most comfortable piece of clothing you’ll ever own.
·         A great pair of straight jeans –Straight jeans never go out of style.
·         A watch– great way to dress up an outfit
·         A statement necklace- Adds instant elegance to the low neck tops & dresses.
·         Shoes – A sandals, a pair of wedges and a pair of eye-catching heels.
·         A pair of stud earrings– can be used to dress an outfit up or down.
·         Belts – a thin belt & a broad belt. Belts complete an outfit & can be used to add colour to a look as well.
·         A clutch – The right clutch makes any outfit stand out as well as there are just some places you just can’t go with your handbag.

ü  Always keep your appearance clean, neat and dress appropriately for the occasion.

ü  Keep in mind that ‘LESS IS MORE’.

Mini make-up haul

Small make-up haul  Hey everyone! I've just started gathering products for my make-up kit and I went out on Saturday and picked up these little beauties *love struck smiley*. I got a chance to use everything so far so I just want to share with y'all my views. The L'oreal true match foundation in W6... umm not my favourite, it's a bit light for me which is weird since the W6 powder matches harmoniously to my skin. I'm hoping it's the tan I got from the beach last week and being out all day Saturday, will definitely give it another chance. Other than it not matching my skin tone it's perfect, it goes on smooth (with the correct brush of course, I used the MAC 188 foundation brush), it's lightweight, gives medium to full coverage and gives a nice 'glowy' finish. I love this foundation, I usually use MAC studio fix fluid but this is a nice cheaper alternative for everyday use. Milani Illuminating face powder in Hermosa Rose.. I cannot get en...

Simple Glam (Night out with the girls)

Hey everyone, club season is back and in full swing in Trinidad and as opposed to carnival the fashion for ‘clubbing season’ as it’s fondly called is two very different things. Let me explain, carnival has a more casual fashion outlook mainly because most of the events are outdoor, the capacity of patrons at one event also the nature of a fete (live performances etc). Club fashion has more of a glamorous outlook because of its indoor nature consisting of ‘little black dresses’, skirts, blazers etc. My first after carnival outfit was this black and white, close-fitting, above mid-knee length, armhole, cotton dress. I immediately fell in love with it because I can dress it up or down. I like unique pieces but I absolutely love clothes that I can dress up or down. I paired it with black pumps (sorry I didn’t get a shot of them). I wore a pair of mid-size silver hoops, a silver ring, white & silver MK watch and a black clutch with silver lining. When going for a glam loo...
