The Power of ‘Nude’

When I think of the word nude different shades of ‘beiges’, ‘tans’ and ‘pale peaches’ come to mind.   In fashion, the word is most often used to describe a shade that is a little darker than champagne, lighter than sand and perhaps with a hint of blush or peach.  Fashion also states that ‘nude’ is no one colour stating that the word derived in relation to skin tones and there is no one skin tone. “There's more than one shade of skin and, in its current incarnation, nude runs from those palest pinks through to deep sunburnt apricots and peaches, passing through a range of beiges and caramel.”

I am obsessed with nude hues. I believe although it’s neutral it still has the ability to add definition to an outfit. I also believe in having something nude, if at least one piece in every section of your closet. A pair of nude pumps and/or wedges, nude flats, a nude lipstick, a nude clutch/and or hand bag, nude nail polish and of course nude clothing (which is any colour from palest pinks to peaches) such as a blouse, a skirt and a dress.

Nude hues can be considered neutral (meaning it matches almost anything) and can be used several different ways to complete a look.  Let’s just say it’s a life saver. My most experimented nude colour thus far I’d have to say is beige. I use it to add texture to a look, to tone down a busy print and sometimes when I feel extra chic I go for an entire nude look from head to toe. It just depends on what style suits you.

If you've had a nude lipstick you've wanted to try but just never knew how to go about it check out this link from beauty biz.com on, great tips on “how to wear a nude lip” --- http://beautyblitz.com/how-wear-nude-lip#slide--1

My favourite nude lipsticks thus far has been – Nude Crème by Milani & Mauve by Jordanna, I pair them interchangeably with AV lipliner in nude or Kleancolor lipliner in sand beige. I also use pale pink lipliner on my entire lip with some lip gloss to achieve a pale pink nude finish.

Some looks where because of my obsession I couldn't help but incorporate some nude:

Also you can check my summer lookbook I used a lot of nude to style the outfit's as well.

Mini make-up haul

Small make-up haul  Hey everyone! I've just started gathering products for my make-up kit and I went out on Saturday and picked up these little beauties *love struck smiley*. I got a chance to use everything so far so I just want to share with y'all my views. The L'oreal true match foundation in W6... umm not my favourite, it's a bit light for me which is weird since the W6 powder matches harmoniously to my skin. I'm hoping it's the tan I got from the beach last week and being out all day Saturday, will definitely give it another chance. Other than it not matching my skin tone it's perfect, it goes on smooth (with the correct brush of course, I used the MAC 188 foundation brush), it's lightweight, gives medium to full coverage and gives a nice 'glowy' finish. I love this foundation, I usually use MAC studio fix fluid but this is a nice cheaper alternative for everyday use. Milani Illuminating face powder in Hermosa Rose.. I cannot get en...

Simple Glam (Night out with the girls)

Hey everyone, club season is back and in full swing in Trinidad and as opposed to carnival the fashion for ‘clubbing season’ as it’s fondly called is two very different things. Let me explain, carnival has a more casual fashion outlook mainly because most of the events are outdoor, the capacity of patrons at one event also the nature of a fete (live performances etc). Club fashion has more of a glamorous outlook because of its indoor nature consisting of ‘little black dresses’, skirts, blazers etc. My first after carnival outfit was this black and white, close-fitting, above mid-knee length, armhole, cotton dress. I immediately fell in love with it because I can dress it up or down. I like unique pieces but I absolutely love clothes that I can dress up or down. I paired it with black pumps (sorry I didn’t get a shot of them). I wore a pair of mid-size silver hoops, a silver ring, white & silver MK watch and a black clutch with silver lining. When going for a glam loo...
