Taking Care of my Virgin Brazilian Extensions

So I got extensions *big smile*. I absolutely love my natural hair but like everything else I needed a change and my hair needed rest.  I haven’t had extensions in a little over a year so it took a little getting used to; I was a bit late with the recent virgin hair craze that recently took over Trinidad obviously, however I checked around and decided to get 14” to 16” Virgin Brazilian Body Wave in Natural Black. I've had it in close to four weeks now. At first I wasn't sure how to take care of it etc but I did some research and I played around with it and I think I have a pretty good handle on it now.

Washing – So far I've co-washed it three times using Motions Moisture Plus conditioner.  I try to wash it on weekends, early in the day so I can let it air dry. Co-washing means washing the hair with conditioner only.

Heat – I try not to blow dry, curl iron or flat iron the hair. I stay away from electronic heat as much as possible.

Setting – For setting I made a mixture of ORS wrap/set mousse and water that I store in a spritz bottle. After air drying, I spray a small amount of the mixture to the hair and lightly comb it through with a wide teeth comb to ensure its tangle free. I add a tiny bit of argon oil to the hair also. I put two drops of argon oil in my palm, rub it together and lightly pass my hand & fingers through the hair. To actually set the hair I tried the flexi rods but I failed miserably at it, luckily I found an alternative called ‘head band curls’ it gives me the same waves that the flexi rods does and I can sleep comfortably in it and you know me? All about those win/win situations. (photos below) I set the hair every night before bed and I tie it with a large silk scarf.

Detangling – After I remove the headband, I use a paddle brush and lightly brush through the curls until I get the desired wave. At this point you don’t need to add any other product to it, anything else may more than likely weigh the hair down.

That’s pretty much it, I also trim the ends every four weeks or whenever I get my extensions re-installed. You can check out head band curls tutorials on you tube to get step by step instructions on how to do it.

Whatever you choose to do, do it with confidence. Be your own type of beautiful.

Mini make-up haul

Small make-up haul  Hey everyone! I've just started gathering products for my make-up kit and I went out on Saturday and picked up these little beauties *love struck smiley*. I got a chance to use everything so far so I just want to share with y'all my views. The L'oreal true match foundation in W6... umm not my favourite, it's a bit light for me which is weird since the W6 powder matches harmoniously to my skin. I'm hoping it's the tan I got from the beach last week and being out all day Saturday, will definitely give it another chance. Other than it not matching my skin tone it's perfect, it goes on smooth (with the correct brush of course, I used the MAC 188 foundation brush), it's lightweight, gives medium to full coverage and gives a nice 'glowy' finish. I love this foundation, I usually use MAC studio fix fluid but this is a nice cheaper alternative for everyday use. Milani Illuminating face powder in Hermosa Rose.. I cannot get en...

Simple Glam (Night out with the girls)

Hey everyone, club season is back and in full swing in Trinidad and as opposed to carnival the fashion for ‘clubbing season’ as it’s fondly called is two very different things. Let me explain, carnival has a more casual fashion outlook mainly because most of the events are outdoor, the capacity of patrons at one event also the nature of a fete (live performances etc). Club fashion has more of a glamorous outlook because of its indoor nature consisting of ‘little black dresses’, skirts, blazers etc. My first after carnival outfit was this black and white, close-fitting, above mid-knee length, armhole, cotton dress. I immediately fell in love with it because I can dress it up or down. I like unique pieces but I absolutely love clothes that I can dress up or down. I paired it with black pumps (sorry I didn’t get a shot of them). I wore a pair of mid-size silver hoops, a silver ring, white & silver MK watch and a black clutch with silver lining. When going for a glam loo...
